A HP Desognjet Z5200PS series is a large format printer which haves the features of saving half the steps needed to create a print . You can submit many files at a time directly to a printer without having to wait to open a application it also has the features of producing a large variety of long lasting applications using HP Vivera pigment links this improves the business because it means you can produce large posters what can be expensive so if the company has its own then it may cost a lot at the beginning of the process but when expensive is paid you would gradually save money.

Laser Cutters make images be able to be printed so they can be stuck on windows and be waterproof this would be used by advertising companies. Laser cutters print in a high resolution so they do not go out of focus when they’re expanded. Laser cutters can go up to 1246mm x 710mm. Laser cutters send a high powered laser through optics. Computer numerical control is what is used to control the direction of the laser. Laser cutters get used in places such as businesses. Laser cutting developed even further in 1967, when a British man developed a laser cutter that can cut through metals. Laser cutters are used to cut through titanium for space facilities. Laser cutters are now used for a wide multiple of things such as piping metals and flat sheet materials.

A 48"refine vinyl cutter/plotter would be useful in the company because it makes different shapes which means you don’t have to buy them meaning the company saves money. They cut writing and pictures that can be stuck onto canvas such as vans. The images need to be bitmap so when enlarged and expanded they don’t go blurry or pixelated. Using a bitmap the images can be changed to any size. An example of a van that uses Vinyl Cutters is the Sky van this is because the whole van is covered by a picture. Vans wouldn’t have big logos or images on their vans due to the low quality.

3D Printing is when you print out a physical object when using a digital file through the process of additive process. The process of 3D printing is when you repetitively lay down successive layers to get the end outcome of a physical object. To print 3D you need to create a virtual design by using a computer aided design file using a 3D modelling programme. However you can also print 3D by using a 3D scanner to scan a physical object. In preparation phase the programme slices the virtual design into thousands of layers. Then the printer will print the object by a layering process.

Inkjet printing places small drops of ink onto paper to create an image. The ink droplets are very small they are only about 50-60 microns in diameter. This in affect makes the overall image more detailed than other images and gives it a higher resolution. These images would be more expensive as they’re of a higher quality. RIP software would be used to make the inkjet printing easier. Inkjet printing can handle many files and file sizes.  Inkjet printing is much easier now as it used to have a more complicated process such as printing then having to add an adhesive board to make sure the ink was waterproof, whereas now it does it all in one.

Unit 30 P6

Intellectual Property is the creation of the mind, Meaning what you invent is yours for example designs and symbols. IP is protected in law this enables people to earn recognition and financial benefit from what they have created.

Copyright is when a person owns their creation of what they've invented through law. Meaning they have the right on how they would want their work to be used or copied. Also when people want to use this persons work they have to request permission otherwise they're breaking the law. When requesting to use someones work with Copyright the owner can usually ask for a sum of money to allow them to use it. Overall this law stops someone from copying their idea meaning they then as a company have time to develop and manufacture the idea.

If an image for example has no Copyright it is called Copyright Free this is when the image could be used by anyone who would want to use it.These types of images are using found on popular internet search engines for example Google.

When a photographer takes photos of people they have to get the person to sign a model release form. This form allows the photographer to use the image in any way they want. If the photo was used without permission the photographer would be breaking the law.

In education a student may need to use an image for a non commercial use this is allowed as the image is not used for any other purpose. However if the student needs a lot of their work or images they may need to request permission or state on their work the name of the copyright work they've used and the owner of the piece to save themselves from a heavy fine from copyright.

Unit 30- M1

M1-
A Monitor has limitations such as the resolution of the monitor because if you use an old monitor you cannot be completely accurate with the pixels. Meaning the piece you’ve made on Photoshop for example does not look the same overall printed out because the monitor could not keep up with the software. However to resolve this you could buy a calibrated printer meaning the colour schemes are linked. Therefor the overall piece looks the same on the paper as it did on the monitor.
Using a digital camera the pixels can be blurred when enlarged. This is because the picture taken is small and enlarging it stretches out the original photo. A SD Card is used to store memory of your pictures. The mega pixels of a camera determines the amount of pictures you can take. For example a 1GB will only allow you around 20 pictures.
A scanners limitations are that the scanning screen itself may not be big enough to cover what you want to scan. For example if you have a A4 scanner then you can only scan A4. Unless you scan A3 you have to scan both sides and join the 2 pieces together on Photoshop. More limitations are that the scanner must be cleaned frequently unless you end up with finger prints and scratches on the scanning screen. These marks will show up on the monitor when you scan something it will make the piece blurred where the marks are.
A printers limitations include the replacing of the ink. Ink can be very expensive comparing to what printer you have. The better the printer the more expensive the ink. The ink must be replaced to be able to print. The print size is also a limitation. If your printer can only print to A4 you cannot print off A3. But you can by printers which printer a variety of print sizes.
Photoshop is very time consuming it takes ages to learn how to use all the tools on the software and put them into action. You have to know how big to make an image resolution. The price is also a limitation as it is very expensive it is over £400. Not many people would not pay for that software.

Illustrator is very expensive. It is a vector so you can always change the size of the image. However it is very time consuming and will take a long time to get a hand of the software as it is very confusing. Another disadvantage is that it is very expensive software to have. Although it is worth the money.

Graphic type
Describe how the graphic is constructed and why you chose the graphic type
How will the final file be saved?
Internet graphic
 Bitmap
When a photo is taken on a Digital camera or when an image is scanned from a magazine a bitmap graphic is created. A bitmap is made out of tiny parts these are called pixels, they usually come in all different colours. You can edit a bitmap and also edit every individual pixel. This is because a computer has stored information about every pixel in the image. A bitmap graphic is usually quite large. However when you change the size of a bitmap graphic the image becomes distorted meaning the graphic loses quality.
 Jpeg, Gif or Png
Van sign graphic
 Vector
A Vector graphic is created in graphic packages. But unlike bitmap they consist of shapes called objects. You can edit each object individually by shape size and colour. Even though a vector can be quite large it does not need much memory to be stored. Therefore the file size of a vector is usually small. They are also scalable meaning when you change the size of them they do not lose quality.
EPS, AL, PDF, SVG or DXF
Brochure
 Writing-Vector
Pictures-Bitmap
You would use both vector and bitmap. Bitmap for pictures because you would want them to look more lifelike. Whereas a vector would be better for writing because it will stay clear making it easier to read.
