Unit 28 Task 2

Task 2

User side factors:
Download speed: Download speed is how fast things download on your screen. This is from the server to your own computer screen. Most serves are made to download much faster to increase the efficiency of the website. When I create my own website I will make sure it has few pictures and videos will not have a high HT, this makes download speed much faster for the user.

Cache memory: Cache memory is a storage programme stored into a PC. It is made up of SRAM which is a high speed static instead of the slower RAM. Cache has a copy of the saved information from RAM so when the information is needed from the CPU it can quickly download it from cache without having to search throughout RAM. I will use cache memory when making my website because most programs use the same data therefor the information will be processed faster due to a faster cache memory.

Processor speed: Processor speed is how many calculations a processor can perform at once. When designing my website I will use a high CPU (processor) as the higher the processor the more calculations it can perform. This is important as if I have videos and images on my website I would want them to download fast so there is not a delay. Having a fast processor can do more in less time.

Server side factors:

Available bandwidth: Bandwidth is determined by the internet connection. The larger the bandwidth the more data can flow at one given time. When creating my website I will have a strong internet connection so my bandwidth is large. This is will benefit my website as more information will be able to flow at one time meaning my website will download faster. This is good for videos as a larger bandwidth will download videos a lot faster than a smaller bandwidth.

File types: effects how fast a webpage loads. Some files could be JPEG or GIF which would take longer in some cases to load. Some files need additional plug-ins to be downloaded onto the computer system for example Adobe Flash Player. The page will not be able to load unless the plug-in is downloaded. When creating my website I will take into consideration the file types so the website can be viewed by many without them needed to download any plug-ins.

Overcoming barriers
Language- by getting a translator you can overcome language because the translator can speak for you. Meaning communication is still there between both workers.
Opinions- by having different opinions you should have a 3rd person this makes sure the majority has the right view. The 3rd person should be a complete outsider so there is no bias within the final decision.

Distractions- you can get rid of distractions by taking away the thing that distracts you such as if a mobile are a distraction just takes it away. Imply rules so the workers get punished if they do wrong.

This Subject Audit is designed to help you review your own ICT knowledge and to identify those areas where you anticipate that you may need support.  Throughout Unit 1 you will need to regularly review the development of your subject knowledge as a vital element in your training experience.

How to assess your knowledge:
In the spaces provided on the following pages please classify your status by ticking against the three point scale:

A
I
T
Advanced: can complete task without thinking
Intermediate: can complete task but has to think about it or ask teacher for a reminder.  This needs to be added to the training plan as a low priority Training need.
Training required: This needs to be added to the training plan as high priority training need.
